Welcome to Michigan Chapter
The American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin (ASEI) is an organization of engineers and technical professionals of Indian origin. ASEI was established in 1983 in Michigan, and is a non-profit organization (Tax ID # 38 -2468829). Since its inception in 1983, ASEI has strived to strengthen the Indo-American relationship, institute a channel of communication between technical organizations within the United States and abroad, lend a helping hand to charitable organizations, provide assistance to engineering students at the Local and National levels, and organize networking events.

President
An Engineering graduate from IIT Delhi with Executive MBA degree & professional certifications in Project Mgmt, ITIL & Sig Sigma, Lalita Kambhampati has more than 28 years experience in IT and Project Mgmt. She has extensive technical & functional experience in Peoplesoft applications and mainframe legacy systems . She has great passion for technology & would love to use technology in a positive way for the betterment of mankind.
Ravi Majmudar
Vice President
Ravi Majmudar is Information Technology Professional working at General Motors. With his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Master's degree in Industrial Technology coupled with an experience of over 20 years, Ravi specializes in various areas of IT such as Infrastructure Engineering, Enterprise Data Center operations and Big Data. Ravi has served as a director of ASEI supporting ASEI initiatives and events.
Rakesh Saini
Treasurer
Mr. Rakesh Saini is a Senior Vice President in Flagstar Bank’s Finance department working on regulatory capital planning activities for the Bank and has held leadership roles in several areas within the finance and risk departments. He has over 25 years of experience spanning the banking, automotive and telecom industries and has experience in developing, implementing and enhancing a broad array of processes in finance and enterprise risk management. Prior to Flagstar, Mr. Saini was at Ally Financial and Chrysler working in various roles within accounting, finance and treasury groups. He started his career as an Engineer at Motorola, Inc. where he worked on cellular infrastructure systems for almost 9 years holding various positions of increasing responsibilities. Mr. Saini holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business as well as a Masters and a Bachelors degree in Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Toronto.
Jhansi Nalla
Secretary / COO - Chief Operations Officer
Jhansi Nalla leads a group of Systems Engineers and Program Managers within Software Defined Vehicle business unit at General Motors (GM). She has been proudly serving in the U.S Army Reserves from 2015 onwards as a 12A – Engineering Officer with 457th FEST A EN Det Army Corps of Engineers located in Livonia, Michigan. In her previous role at GM Defense as Assistant Program Manager, she led the execution if Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) contract worth $214.3 million for Army customer. She started her journey as a Quality Chain Engineer for Autonomous and ADAS business unit at GM supporting Cruise and internal SuperCruise teams. Before joining GM in 2018, Jhansi worked for Fiat Chrysler and Continental Automotive as an Electrical Systems Engineer supporting the cradle to grave development of various sub-systems/systems. She also worked as a CITRIX Software Developer at IBM India before moving to United States in 2014. Jhansi holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University (Texas), and a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from JNTU, Hyderabad (India). Outside of work, Jhansi leads and supports local schools’ projects in STEM, especially encouraging young girls to explore the world of science. Mentoring and Volunteering has been the biggest part of her life. Some of the non-profit organizations she supports are Mission Continue, Service Women’s Action Network (SWAN), Veteran’s Employee Resource Group at GM, co-chair for Next4Vet Affinity Group at Inforum, Oakland County youth assistance council. She is passionate about helping others and making sure the veterans/current service members (specially women) have access to resources they need to grow as leaders.
